Modern Slavery Statement - The Fuel Store

Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps taken by The Fuel Store Ltd to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains for the financial year ending 31 December 2024.

The Fuel Store is committed to operating ethically and responsibly. We recognise our responsibility to play a role in eradicating modern slavery and remain vigilant in identifying and mitigating any risks in our operations or supply chain.

Our Business

The Fuel Store Ltd is a UK-based company providing fuel cards, fleet services and solutions to commercial customers. We work with a broad range of suppliers across the fuel, technology and professional services sectors.

While our industry is generally considered low risk for modern slavery, we maintain a responsible and transparent approach to ethical business conduct.

Our Policies

We have a formal Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy, which outlines our commitment to identifying and preventing modern slavery in all parts of our business. This policy is reviewed annually and is supported by related internal policies including:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Supplier Code of Conduct
  • Whistleblowing Policy
  • Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy

All staff are made aware of their responsibility to report concerns, and our policies are available internally at all times.

Due Diligence and Risk Management

We assess modern slavery risk across our supply chain using a risk-based approach. This includes:

  • Conducting due diligence on new suppliers where appropriate
  • Requiring suppliers to confirm their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act
  • Reserving the right to audit or terminate relationships where ethical concerns arise

We prioritise transparency and integrity in all our commercial relationships.

Training and Awareness

We ensure that relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management and operations, understand the risks of modern slavery and how to act on any concerns. Awareness is embedded into our onboarding and policy induction processes.

Ongoing Improvements

During the next financial year, we aim to:

  • Strengthen supplier onboarding checks to include more structured ethical compliance questions
  • Introduce a formal annual supplier review process with a focus on ethical standards
  • Provide targeted training to managers in higher-risk roles
